Working Together
Finding the right way forward for you
Finding the right way forward for you

Discovery session

The first step is to arrange your free initial discovery session of between 30-60 minutes, during which we will explore where you are now and what you would like to get from coaching.  I offer this session so that you can experience my style of working before you decide if it's right for you and something you would like to pursue.  Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, this meeting will be by phone or Zoom.

Tailored service

If you decide you would like us to work together, either there and then or after some thinking time, we will discuss and agree how we will work together.  I offer a service that is tailored to you and your circumstances, not a one-size-fits-all programme.  There is no set package or commitment – it is flexible to meet your needs.  So we will clarify your aims for the coaching sessions, to ensure we both have a shared understanding of where we are trying to get to; we will agree on the number and frequency of sessions; when and where we will meet (in person, when we can; by phone; by Zoom; a combination) and how and when we will review progress.

Location and availability

Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, I am working with clients by phone or Zoom.  Ordinarily, I work face-to-face in and around Telford, Shropshire and by phone or Zoom with clients based further afield, including overseas.  I work mostly in the mornings.  Some early evening and Saturday morning appointments are also available.

Cost

Coaching sessions after the initial discovery session cost £70 for an hour.  The number of sessions required varies from person to person.  Typically I work with people for between 4 and 6 sessions.  Occasionally people only require 1 or 2 sessions to get them on track.  We will only work together for as long as it is to your benefit.  If either of us feels that the arrangement is not working, we can withdraw at any time.

What coaching is…

Coaching is a confidential, impartial, constructive conversation, or series of conversations, supporting you to move from where you are now to where you would like to be in a particular area.  The conversation will have a clear focus and will finish with agreed actions.  Our coaching sessions will follow your agenda – you will choose what is most important for you to focus on at the time and we will review progress to ensure we stay on track. My approach will be tailored to you and your needs and preferences.    At the end of each session I will ask for feedback on how you found the session.  This will enable me to adjust my style as necessary to meet your needs.

What coaching is not…

I will not tell you what to do or how to do it.  What I will do is support your thinking, by listening, questioning and making observations, so you gain a greater understanding of yourself and/or your situation and identify what you need/want to do to move things forward and how you will go about that.

Requirements for success

Coaching requires mutual commitment to be successful, including keeping to agreed arrangements and being open to change, and we will discuss what we each need from the other to get the best possible outcomes for you.

Ethics of coaching:

As a professional coach I am a member of the Association for Coaching and I abide by a recognised code of ethics (the ‘Global Code of Ethics for Coaches and Mentors’ of the Association for Coaching and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council).  Key issues are:

  • Confidentiality - our conversations will remain confidential unless there are exceptional circumstances.  I undergo professional supervision, which is part of best practice.  This involves discussion of my work with clients, but again in confidence and without the identification of individuals.

  • Competence - I am a coach, not a counsellor or a therapist, and I operate within the limits of my competence.  I do not work with people with depression.

  • Conflicts of interest - should any potential conflicts of interest arise, these will be addressed immediately.

  • Continuity - we will work together for a defined period of time and only as long as it is to your benefit. Coaching is not intended to create dependency.  If either of us feels that the arrangement is not working, we can withdraw at any time.

If you have any questions at any time, please do feel free to ask them.

I really look forward to working with you and helping you get to where you want to be!
