I am thinking about time again this month, no doubt prompted by the clocks going back at the weekend, the days seeming shorter, and wondering how it can be so late in the year already. Where has the time gone??
Many of us wish there were more hours in the day or days in the week; to feel calmer; or to squeeze in all those things we want to do or think we should do. But, like it or not, no-one can make time. We all of us have just 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. And we none of us live forever…
Time is a precious and limited resource. Maybe it is our most precious resource. How much thought do you give to how you spend yours?
What do you spend your time on?
How does that relate to what is most important to you?
What impact does it have?
Who or what do you let waste your time?
What one thing could you spend more time on than you do now that would make a really positive difference in your life?
What one thing could you stop doing to allow for that?
This is not about ‘maximising productivity’. It is about living the life you would like to lead. Imagine yourself at the end of your life and consider how you would complete these sentences:
“I wish I had spent more time…”
“I wish I had spent less time…”
And now decide what action you want to take in the light of your answers. How do you choose to spend your limited time? Make the most of it!
